When we slow down in life, we notice and observe a lot more. Moving fast can often result in sloppy, careless actions. This really goes for anything; work, relationships, trying to heal a wound, even gardening.

In gardening you can buy soil, buy full grown plants and even pay someone to put it all in for that instant gratification. No shame in that, but I am about to tell you how slowing down can be much more rewarding. I like gardening so that is the analogy. When you even go mid way and buy some soil, and seedlings there is a little more sense of accomplishment and you get to know that plants a little better.

Now think if you had taken the time to make compost, condition the soil, make it absolutely healthy. planted soil conditioning plants and deepened your knowledge of permanent or perennials and annuals planting where they would survive the most optimized spots. As any gardener will tell you plans and paper don’t always work out in practice. BUT it does give you a plethora of knowledge on how the plants worked and didn’t. especially if you got to know them intimately by planting by seed.

Which isn’t always practical given how long planting by seed can take. Example of this is fruit trees can take years from seed to give fruit and may or may not result in good tasting fruit. Which can be part of the adventure as long as you know that is possible failure. Failure can be fun when you know you’re going into it to learn and not expecting the best results.

That is similar to if you rush a relationship you may not know anything about each other and the relationship crumbles once realizing a lot doesn’t align. If you slow down and get to know a person, can make the relationship a lot smoother. But as planting a fruit tree seed, some people can’t decide and either must take the leap or let that person go, so they can have a deep thoughtful and caring relationship with someone who wants to put in the work a solid relationship takes.

We can do this in many aspects of our life. Its good to take a step back, observe and ponder the whole picture. Relax. Taking time to thoroughly think things through can result in a much stronger foundation and solid results. It can be very satisfying to have built a garden, a home, or even a family from scratch and all the true loving effort put into it regularly.
