Criticism of Holidays and Peoples Lifestyle
Holidays and criticism on how we celebrate or live our lives through the different views the world holds has me pondering a lot lately. From religious do and don’t do to political supposed markers to label someone as what they are. If you been reading my site and following me for a while you already know my characters evolved from being told you are what people think you are. I for one disagree with this sentiment as it gives power to abusive people and people who want to control how people perceive another.
Specifically looking at Halloween and how its claimed to be evil. How? Are we that uneducated in history? Halloween is a morphed word from All Hallows Eve for the 31st and November 1st is All Saints Day. Not going to go into all the multiple history tales on this as there is plenty of article out there. However what I more want to focus on is the line of thinking and point out my confusion and feeling lied to on a few matters.
Claiming its witchcraft. Well lets start there. I have heard skulls and other items are witchcraft, well… pedantic me says we all have a skull in our head so what are you talking about? I think its how someone uses things could certainly be used for such a thing, but is not inherently only for that. Sure the bible says don’t use fortune tellers and divination.
I try to look at things on how it might have been when written and what they were doing back then, and compare to current times. The bible also is implied to not talk to the dead… this might piss people off but genuine question, all the saints are dead are they not? So technically that line of logic prayer to them is a big no no. Christmas and Easter didn’t exist so lets look at fall celebrations. In biblical times they DID celebrate harvest. As it was set around late November early October for our calendars now, they had a different calendar, if you didn’t know.
I wonder how many people from that time would see our cell phones as witchcraft. Heck even our current medical system. Yet plenty of people claim using herbs as witchcraft. I ask you, do you really think Jesus was walking to a pharmacy and getting pills? Food for thought there. There is a lot we do now that would more than likely look like magic and witchcraft to them.
As Halloween derived from a very old tradition of warding off evil and celebrating harvest – basically the bounty God created and gave. I think I will continue to celebrate it. Times change, celebration dates change, the sentiment hold the same. Whether you celebrate, thanksgiving, Halloween, or any of the other names & holidays by religious standards for feasts and harvests… trying to not point at any religions specifically. I just have to wonder who lying on purpose or is it just a really big misunderstanding?
Stepping away from holidays to another point mostly political… can we stop giving colors away to groups to label if you use XYZ color you’re THIS. It is so annoying as an artist and God created everything so let just not isolate people with BS rhetoric. I know its going to keep happening because dumb exists but gosh dang. Do we want everyone walking around the same or do we want people to be as God created and intended. Just a little tired of the criticism and pointing fingers like children.
Perfect world people wouldn’t be losing their minds and going into delusional fits of psychotic melt downs. I have no control over this, but maybe just maybe giving people room to think about it and how silly it looks, maybe people can heal and we can all get a little better in the world. AND have some fun without it being called witchcraft or woke or whatever label. Lets smile and laugh and leave behind the “whaaa he looked at me attitude.”
Like the Violets in this picture, there are flaws, yet lets celebrate the beauty and usefulness of the flowers anyway.
