Judgment, Choices, Discernment, Clarity
Recently there has been a trend to say don’t judge others its not your job. Sure ultimately God, the most high, is the judge in the end. However, there needs to be some clarity and light shed on those that call for judgment and then get mad when it comes.
Everything is a choice. Definition of discernment is the ability to judge well, understand deeply, and distinguish clearly between things like truth and falsehood or right and wrong. It combines sharp observation, good sense, and wise choice.
To have discernment brings clarity to a choice. Everything is a judgment. Think about it this way. You decide to eat an apple or a grape. That was a decision a judgment with discernment on what you desired or needed in the moment.
When we judge others, yes we judge, no matter how much you want to feel righteous about it. Everyone judges. When you choose a person to be with is a judgment, choice that you chose. You judged the elements about that person and decided you wanted them in your life or not. Whether a partnership, marriage, friends, or what you wore that day. It is all choices made in judgment for the best of your knowledge in the moment.
Next time you get offended by a judgment. Ask yourself something. Why does this bother me so much? What about you makes this hurt or angry or whatever the reaction? Ultimately God is the judge and if you are so upset by the judgments of others what are you trying to tell yourself.
No one has the power to make you react or feel after the split second of hearing it and thinking about it. Were they trying to hurt you? Or did they expose something about you that you didn’t want seen or was it about them? Honestly its probably about them. Most things are a projection of how someone is managing their feelings. If you don’t have self control you bleed out your energy in a way that may not be flattering.
Try to not be so embarrassed once you realize the hypocrisy flowing through the air. Step back, and admire the truth about what people really are, what they were and though not your business be happy for them when they improve themselves. Try to follow the virtues of compassion, kindness, patience, humility and gentleness. Find forgiveness and love. Loving only the good parts, isn’t love. It is okay if you make a mistake. We are human. Just don’t mistake when someone discerns something about you like they are playing God. That person might be trying to show you something with the capacity they are at.
This post probably comes off as a lecture, a disciplinary rant… maybe it is. Or maybe just maybe this is the gentle hug that you really needed when you called out for judgment in the first place.
Like the pear has uses beyond food into mild medicinal uses,
know the uses of words and be aware the different levels it is actually used.
Know yourself deeper, it is okay.
