Compassion and Love Over Vengeful Retaliation
In society often kin, compassionate people are viewed as weak pushover people. Sometimes this is true. However when someone is totally justified to react in anger or retaliate and chooses forgiveness, compassion, and love, that is incredibly harder choice to make in situations.
Anger is the easier emotion to end the pain that has been afflicted in some way. If chosen to be resilient, that doesn’t mean no emotions or pretend you aren’t hurt. It takes a lot of inner work to come to a place of genuine compassion instead. It isn’t a quick change. Choosing to be kind when you know you can be vicious and tear down someone with what you know, is a journey in itself. Layers of it summed up; you have to manage your response, how you feel about the other person and all responses there after. It can be a repeated practice depending how severe the offense.
Forgiveness when someone doesn’t deserve it, yes it is for yourself to begin healing. It is a practice done daily until it no longer affects you the way it did in the beginning. Your view of the matter will shift. The way you feel internally and externally about whatever it is will all shift.
People all go through things, and different levels of knowledge of navigation in life. If you do not know what someone has survived, is going through or gone through something, it can come off extremely hurtful or ignorant to give some simple solution answer as if that is all that person needs to do.
Lets just say for example. You see a person who looks healthy, doesn’t have a normal job. They express they can’t pay for a service but is continuously hounded for a membership. “its only a few bucks” someone says. Not understanding this person is holding on to very little or no money at all. Just been taken in by people so they don’t live on the streets. So they look clean and rested but technically are homeless. Lets say now that person has other unseen health issues preventing them from just walking down to a place to get a job. Mind you does not own a vehicle to transport themselves in anyway. Starting to see how a simple go get a job isn’t just so simple anymore and can be a crass thing to say to someone you don’t know?
There are people in this world that love to gossip and spill all kinds of details and then there are those that choose to not talk about things. Reasoning may differ. Maybe they are too embarrassed to ask for help or told so many times they were a burden that they stopped asking a long time ago. Maybe they are so used to bare minimum they don’t know what to ask for or who they can even have the right to ask help from. Just food for thought the next time someone wants to belittle, or not even that just make a thoughtless comment about how easy they could “fix” someone else problems. Don’t assume. Ask them what they need, some people might see that as a loaded question and not have an answer. Then what? It might take months of getting to know someone and observing before you can even truly know a sliver of information to help them.
You know that saying, give a man a fish he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish he eats for life. In society I see a lot of supposed help of giving things; shelter, money, items… while yes temporary bandage solution. But that isn’t going to solve the problem if the person doesn’t have the ability to do or get any of that on their own. The imbalance of greed and false pat on the back help in the world can be disheartening at times. Not putting down donations those things genuinely can make or break a persons day. I am looking at actually fixing the problems society is refusing to fully face.
Raising prices to push people out of homes to flip a building into a new type of projects building sure as heck isn’t a solution that’s only compounding and extending the problem into a bigger one. I could run all kinds of possible solution scenarios here but my point was try to not be so arrogant in thinking you know what someone needs and what they are going through or that they can just give a few bucks to you. Definitely don’t go harass and follow and bully the person because you think they owe you something they never could give it in the first place. Maybe just maybe their knowledge and time was all they could give you. Try to appreciate what you do receive and stop expecting things to be shallow and simple just because you don’t see the bigger picture.
Yellow rose used to represent friendship,
so lets think of the yellow rose as compassion we show one another
and know there’s jagged leaves and thorns on the shrub
just as there is more to a person than just the first look.
